Here is my dilemma:
In mid July myself and 1 other will be leaving for Spain or Morocco or both for 3 weeks. Here is the thing:

I can typically find trips for $800 Canadian(flight) round trip Barcelona.

I can typically find trips for $1400 Canadian(flight) round trip for Casablanca. If I combine start Barcelona and leave from Casablanca, it goes for about $1200 (flight).

If we go to both (Barcelona arrival and leave from Casablanca) it costs about $1200 (CAD).

I have a budget of approx $3000 total canadian (so I would have approx 1200-1300 Euro after flight cost) or 10,000 MAD (morocco) after flight.


So, with the budget constraints...what are you opinions? Can I have a good trip in Spain AND morocco for that amount of money (seems really tight to me so far)? I have backpacked through China, sleeping in hostels etc... so no luxury is truly required..

1200 euros is a lot in my opinion. Especially if you're doing it all cheap and though I've never been I've heard Morocco is really cheap and parts of Spain can be as well. I think you could make both work. But if you stay in Spain and you feel like you have too much time you could always go to Portugal or France.
I would do both though.

Morocco is really cheap. unless you're buying and shipping carpets or something, it would be difficult to spend 10000DH. If it was me, I would fly in & out of spain. barcelona is a far way from morocco by land but ryanair does a pretty cheap flight from girona to grenada... bus transportation in spain is pretty cheap... hostels and food and stuff is more expensive, but what you spend in spain you will save in morocco. trains are really cheap in morocco as is everything else.

I see you have a couple of options already as far as airfare but you might even find a cheaper situation if you get creative. for example, if you find a flight from any city in europe to home for super cheap (like I just saw a flight from london to calgary for $150) then find a cheap ryanair flight from say marrakech to london (I think that flight cost me about $80) then you have just saved on airfare. think outside the box, play with dates & times, and you may find even cheaper than what you've found so far, if you don't mind hopping around a bit.
