Hello All,

I will be traveling to Europe for 3 months in the very near future (aka September). My question is this, how much do prices for accomodations(hostels), and entertainment vary from the high season to the low season? I will be attempting to see both Eastern and Western Europe and will be planning to budget 60-70 Euro per day.

Thanks for your input

That will be a good budget - you can expect to live for well under that in eastern Europe, though in some parts of western Europe you may go a little over. In September, you probably won't see a huge price difference, between high and low season, except perhaps on the flight, which would help enormously. Accommodations can fluctuate by between 10 and about 30% in the off season, but it depends a lot on the exact location - some cities are popular for trade fairs and business destinations, and they sometimes up their fares during the winter, particularly during the weeks. Mostly this is typical in business hotels, which probably won't affect you, but it's worth knowing about in advance. Hostels don't always drop their rates, it just kinda depends. You can get an idea by checking hostel search engine on the boards, and the individual hostel websites if you need more info.

I agree!
And remeber that not every place is gonna be cheaper if a hostel is at 15 euros a night during the summer then chances are they wont drop rates anymore! I think your looking at about only a 3-5 euro rate diffrence in hostels and maybe a little bit more in lolw budget 1 star hotels, the only upside that your gonna have is vacency, I dont think you should need to have to book ahead for fear of not finding a place like in summer. Im here now and never booked ahead and found no place to sty on 3 occations now it sucks :mf_tongue:
Ummm 60 Euros day is quite a big budget I guess if you wanna go out and get hammerd every night and eat out then its realistic but if your planning on hitting supermarkets and getting booze from stores before you go out then you can probably shoot for 40 a day especially with prices droping that extra couple euros everywhere! Its up too you though
Good luck and have fun!
