Hey everyone,
I'm a canadian spending the summer in england. was wondering what network i should go with, i won't use it that much, mostly for emergencies, to keep in touch with others and the occasional call from/to canada. most of these calls will take place in the uk, however i'll also use it when travelling the continent. i've looked at o2, t-mobile and virgin mobile using the pay as you go. they all seem to have the same prices (0.30p/min) but with t-mobile i can get a real cheap phone ($60) wherease o2's cheapest is over 100. anybody her have any advice for me ? thanks |
Do you currently have a cellphone in Canada? If so, who is your provider and are you on a contract?

Gah, Rogers sucks...so yeah, it's DEFINITELY not worth the trouble.
Once you get over to England, you should be able to pick up a cheap Nokia - even second hand - for pennies. Perhaps one of our native Brits can offer more help. |
lol well there arent many of us on here! Check out argos etc for a cheap o2 phone, you can pick them up for about £30

Make sure you check their prices for calling Canada from the UK and for calls made while roaming outside the UK as these can vary greatly between networks and price plans (most networks now have more than one price plan for PAYG). I believe O2 have a thing called a "bolt on" where for a one off payment of like £5 you can get cheaper international calls.

I recommend O2 - purely for the bolt ons and get a cheap mobile from a supermarket like Tesco's for about £30 or 2nd hand one.
