Hi Guys, just a quick question.. Is it easy to find shops around europe to download memory cards when they are full to cd's? Also are you allowed to upload pics on public computers in hostels etc?
Any other easier suggestion would be great!

its easy and cheap to get your pics on cd while you wait in practicaly any photo developing place.I did it twice in the baltics. was always paranoid about breaking the cds tho. heard of some people that get 2 copies and post one home which is a good idea like.

yea. the other alternative is bringing your camera cable and if you find an internet cafe that will allow you to upload, storing them all on a website. something like photobucket or w/e

the only problem with uploading to a site like photobucket is that you lose image quality. Then you can't print large sizes if you wanted to later.
I went the cd route and brought along a little 6 cd holder. You know like the ones they give away free sometimes.... It worked great

Cool, I didnt think of that... I dont want to loose any image quality esp since I just bought a decent camera so will have to go down the cd root as well.
Thanks!

I was in South America for 2 months and I took at 1 gb and a 512mb card with me. I got back and could still take another 230 on the 1 gb and didnt touch the 512. I have almost 800 pictures from that. so you could potentially not need cd's at all..
My camera was a 5 mp and the pictures are over 1mb each for reference.

My camera is a 7mb one and I doubt that I am going to use it on full 7mb. I might reduce it down to 4mb for the pics I know I want to enlarge and 2 or 3mb for ones that are random....

Yeah that's exactly what I did. I had a 512 card that I filled 3 times in two months in brasil. I took alot of amazing photographs though that I knew I would want to maybe print someday so alot of my shots are at the full 5.2mp that my camera could do. Cause you just never know when a picture is going to turn out to be amazing!

Assuming I can't find an internet cafe that will let me upload pics from my camera, can I usually upload pics from a cd?
I'll be out for 1+ years...and will definitely want to post pics in my travel journal. I have NO experience with internet cafes/hostel computers....so, kinda have no clue what the standard regulations are.

Depends on the placeand how they are set up. But i think most would be able to help if you cant get access to the cd drive yourself.
Ive taken pics off of cds to email home in public computers quite alot when ive been away and never had a problem.
