Thumbs up

Hello again. Originally I wanted to take a laptop on my 6 wk. trip so I could upload all my pictures from my digital camera and write "journal" entrys on an online site so friends and family could see and read what I'm doing. But after reading more helpful advice and experience on this wonderful website I've decided that maybe a laptop wouldn't be such a good idea--- probably the first thing to go if I were targeted by a theif. So my question is, can you upload pictures from a digital camera to any computer? I thought that you needed camera-specific software installed on the computer to do that... Of course I could very well be wrong . Do most digital camera's come with a cord adapter that will plug into any computer? Who out there has tried to do this same thing (online travel journal/pics), and how did you do it? Thanks!!

no you can't upload directly from your camera. some people just burn their photos on disc...others bring a lot of cards.

Hey there, welcome!

First of all, digital cameras *do* come with a USB cord standard. However, you'll have a much easier time of it if you just take your memory card in and have them burn the pictures to a CD. It's much easier, it doesn't cost a lot and it will take less time, I promise.

Try to bring as much memory as you can, too. Have a great time!!

How long is ur trip? A couple good size mem cards and you might have enough space for a ton of pics, letting you avoid having to upload pics atall, well until you get home that is.

Aswell, A mem card in your camera is like a mini hard drive, just plug in ur USB and the pc should show it as an added drive. If the cafe has not disconnected they USB ports, you should not need any special programs to gt your pics off the camera

it really depends on the software the internet cafe is running.
most internet cafes's will disable plug and play so it wont recognise your camera when you plug it in.
i have found in my travels 1/2 the time the pc wont recognise my camera the other half it finds it fine.
