I'm taking my iPod with me on my trip and wanted to know if anyone has any expierence charging electronics in Europe.
I know all about the different voltage and plugs, but is it going to be a pain in the ass trying to get an outlet for a few hours to charge something?
Is this safe to do? I guess I'll have to keep an eye on what I'm charging the whole time.
Thanks!
Pinion

Here's my plan--
Plug the iPod's charger in, then run the cable into your bag. Now close your zippers around it and lock them shut. The only thing they could steal at that point is the cable or the whole bag. I think that's your best bet.

Surely these hostels have enough outlets to go around right? If everyone has an MP3 player, which they seem to these days, it could get complicated.

Yeah everyone scrambling to plug something in lol
I think I'm more concerned about someone jacking something from me while its charging.
I wouldn't mind waiting a bit for someone...I'm fairly patient

Funny stuff.
I'm taking my mp3 player and digital camera. So i'll need a couple of plugs
Also - i wouldn't advise putting a charging device in a closed container - it might not be hot normally, but if theres no airflow, it could get REALLY hot.

They get that impression because -- to a certain extent -- they ARE hardasses when it comes to "obeying zee rules, ja mein herr!"
I remember a morning in a youth hostel when I asked for a second roll. Even though there were tons left over (the hostel was pretty empty), they said no. "One roll per guest!" I was starving because I'd screwed up and forgotten to change money before the weekend hit.
Grrr. Still remember it, 22 years later...not that I hold grudges or anything...no sirree.

I've charged my Ipod in lots of hostels, train stations, bus stations, ect. I usually just sit near it and read a book. I wish that apple had made ipods so that they could run on AA batteries as well. That would be hella more convenient.
