Default PSP vs. Nintendo DS?

yeah so I'm not going to even pretend to be a gamer. I am the exactly opposite of a gamer and still believe the best gaming systems were the original NES (american gladiators and tiny toons = best games ever) followed by the SNES. I got a PS2 (mainly b/c you could play games OR dvds and I didn't have a dvd player) when it first came out and became addicted to grand theft auto but that's about it, I'm more of an outdoorsy girl... or a go to the bar instead of play games girl, but I get in the mood every once in awhile to dust off the PS2 and beat people with ball bats and take their money (if you have no idea what I am talking about, never mind lol).

ANYWAY. So I was perusing amazon.com which if you are deployed is your BEST friend because they ship out here. Anyway I work night shift so I have a lot of free time when I get all my work done. The other dude I work with plays Tiger Woods on his PSP all night so I was looking into the hand held devices so I have something to do over here (because when it rains the internet goes in and out and the winter time is coming soon and heavy snow = shitty internet). so I saw the PSP and the NDS...

I've only ever heard of the PSP so I found some clutch games I'd like- grand theft auto and the sims and hard rock casino... but then I heard PSP sucks and that the sims takes forever to load. but then again it can play movies too.. but it's really freaking expensive

so then I looked at the NDS and it had a million freaking games and is compatible with gameboy advance, and had all my fave SNES games like super mario world and donkey kong country.... so I ended up buying that one and a bunch of games like that and mario kart and freaking DEAL OR NO DEAL (i am very excited about this).

so yeah if anyone has an experience with either system, I'd like to know input cos I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to that stuff, I just wanted something to do, and more for my hard-earned money, but am hoping I didn't make the wrong decision.

I have the PSP and I like it. I don't use it a lot, in my last job I was doing a lot of long distance flying to Asia and back and needed something to kill the time. I decided on the PSP because the graphics are a bit better and I liked the titles they had better than the nintendo (like GTA, SOCOM Nanvy Seals, etc), but really its a personal choice and if your a casual player, I am sure either would be fine. Good luck!

Before going on my trip I ran a toys r us. In my opinion you bought the better of the two systems for you. The PSP is great for the sporting games and the stuff like GTA, but it sounds like from your post you like old school nintendo games and the DS is the way to go for them. I think you will be happy with your choice. Have fun.

Talking Dude, please!

Guess what! I'm typing this from a ___ I also have some music here also MSN and a bunch of pix in this ___. So yeah I would get the PSP if I were you. On a little sidenote SNES was great and I love Mario Paint because I've always been gay like this but to be honest nothing will ever be close to the Awesome Sega Dreamcast with games like Sonic, Power Stone, Marvel Vs. Capcom2, Spawn! Freaking Spawn dude! Also you have the best memory cards ever! Dude also Jet Grind Radio!

thanks for the input guys! I knew there had to be some gamers out there, or at least, more so than me. mainly I am just looking to play some games to pass the time and not going shit on me in the mildde of the game or whatever. I heard the PSP tends to do that. I have zero patience and would throw the damn thing out in the snow. haha.

oh well. I got the nintendo andhad it shipped to my mom's and she's sending it to me and all the times in my next package she's sending.

I am really excited about playing Deal or No Deal, this game better not suck. We watch it on the shitty cable we have in our TOC where I work and we really get excited. I haven't told the guy I work with yet that it is in the mail. Waiting for the suprise. haha.

It's the little things that do it for us...

Talking For the record

I'm not a gamer, I just happen to have lots of time to kill and I've always been good with consoles. So I just want to say I'm not waiting for Halo3 to come out or anything like that. Although a new Ninja Gaiden came out! OMG I am a gamer... Super Smash Bros. anyone?

Im going to buy a Wii just for the Mario titles. Theyre always so much fun. Mario Kart, Mario Galaxy, most likely Mario Tennis, and of course Smash Brothers.

I dont buy handhelds though, theyre too small for my hands and my thumbs cramp up. The one thing Xbox ever did ahead of its time was release the original Xbox with a controller that actually fit the hands of a huge part of the demographic. Unfortunately the layour sucked and when they re-did it they made it smaller.

Controllers need to be sold in sizes! Its not rocket science! Gamers are mostly full grown adults now. I feel like Shrek dealing with a DS.

Talking Sega

Dude, the dreamcast controller is the perfect controller! It even had 2 slots for memory and vibrator without saying the memory had a screen that would help you when playing!

well as an update I got it in the mail along with my games, and I must say, the mario kart for ds rocks... I see I have not lost my touch! also, deal or no deal is kind of cheesy but I enjoy cursing the banker when I open my case and there is $5 in it -- my coworkers get a kick out of me. haha.

anyway yeah I am not some hardcore gamer but I like the ds and gives me something to do at work, esp when the internet goes down for 2 days like it did for the past 2 days.

Dammit. You make me want to put some time into Mario KArt.

...I'll be at the arcade...

Yes, arcade. Theyre still super popular in Taiwan.
