i as well have a sony CD/MP3 player and it works but I don't like the fact that it is on a CD it' big and bulky and the CD will skip from time to time.

* O.G. iPod (5gb) with mechanical wheel and the weight of a small brick.
* iPod Shuffle (512mb)
Accessories: Griffin car charger, Sony tape adaptor
Can't live life w/o 'em, as I constantly have to have music (or, as the case is lately, language lessons) to deal w/ my commute.

20G I-Pod...about a year and half old. She is showing her age a bit....but still looks pretty good for an old broad.
The only thing I own that is close to an "accessory" is my pair of noise-reducing headphones that I use when traveling (not including this killer pair of earrings I just bought that just goes great with my little black cocktail dress ).

omi, I also have an "O.G." 5gig ipod. Still working, but no longer able to transfer music.
I'm really tempted to get a 1gig shuffle, but I'm sure as soon as I do the 2 gig will come out for like 10 bucks more.

I have a 40 gig ipod. They now cost $350 (10% off that price direct from apple if you are a student...). I love this thing. I commute on mass transit a couple days a week for college and I don't know how I lived without it before. I have roughly 2500 songs on it (25% of capacity) and get more every day. I have the "AA" battery pack for it that gives me endless battery life without the charger. It is a lifesaver on transatlantic flights and long train/bus rides. I am looking for some spanish language cd's to load on it so I can begin learning. It also accepts audiobooks. Not to mention the calendar, games, and note pad (that all have to be loaded from iTunes...). The sound quality is immaculate and the factory headphones sound excellent.
I know its long but I am a geek traveler at heart. Go for it man! If you don't like it, you can unload it on ebay EASILY. I want an ipod photo so I can dump my digi cam pics on it and see them in color on a bigger screen BEFORE i get home. That's just me tho!
No matter what, get one. All my friends have ipods too so I have no basis for comparison.

For me an iPod doesn't work. I like to listen to music when I'm doing things, ex. washing car, running, biking, working out, and other active things. And haveing an iPod boucning in my pocket with long headpones that fall out when I realy get active bugs the shit out of me. my sister has one and I can't wear them unless Im just sitting down.
Thats why I decided to invest in Oakly Thumps.
They only hold 256 MB. And the cost $495 USD. The headphones come right out of the glasses themsleves. You change tracks on one side and you change volume on the other. The battery lasts for about 6 hours and you are also paying for a very nive pair of Oakley sunglasses at the same time. For me the price is worth it. An iPod is useless to me if I can't listen to songs whenever I want to. I wear my Thumps for everything and I dont have to worry about headphone cords snaggging something or the headphones falling out.
An iPod is great for just about everyone. However, for me the Thumps are as easy as putting on a pair of glasses and I can do anything I want and I will never know they are there (except for the sound of music pounding in my ear, the speakers in those headphones sound better then the ones in my car).
Anyways thats what I have and my take on them.

I love the concept of the Oakley Thump... I've played w/ em a few times at the Oakley store by work.
I just don't wanna go around looking like Randy 'Macho Man' Savage
