So, my moronic brother ( ) downloaded something and now i discovered the computer has 40 spyware and is running slow... sometimes it doesnt even shut down properly, so a friend is formating it.... and start everything clean.
The problem is that I have a lot of websites saved as "favourites" like travel tips, school research and the like. Does anyone know how I can save all this info into a CD?? (typing all the websites down is not an option).
Oh, if it helps with the answer I've got Windows XP.
I know this isn't even travel related... but I have no one to ask!!

No Worries, Go to the file C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USERNAME\ Copy the folder called favourites to a disk, then put it back into the same folder when you've formatted.
In the future I reccomend Ad Aware for all you spyware removal needs.

in IE
1. Start Internet Explorer
2. On the File menu, click Import and Export, and then click Next.
3. Click Export Favorites and then click Next.
4. Click Favorites and then click Next.
5. Type the name of the file that you want to export the favorites to. By default, the export file is named Bookmark.htm.
6. Click Next and then click Finish.
its pretty much the same in firefox except you need to be in the Bookmark Manager

Once you're done, I use a combo of Spybot and Adaware to keep my machine runnin' clean. Get them both off the net!

Yeah, that's my solution, too...
the downfall is that there's also an awful lot of stuff you can't get for Mac... and utility software (like for adjusting the mixture on my motorcycle, updating the firmware on my camera, etc) is often only written for PC.

True, true... My friend's an avid Mac aficionado but he went out and bought a ThinkPad just to tune his Audi. 'Course, now that you can run XP on the new Macs, I guess that's not an issue. (I still think of it as putting ketchup on steak, though...)

I think we might have to format it anyay...
It's working wierd... we all have our own sessions in XP, and lately it just wont shut down, or if you get up to answer the phone and are away for like 10', when you get back the screen is just black, and the PC won't react until you press the off button...
I hate it cause I've been lazy and haven't really bcked-up much...

In the long run you'll be happier... It's always good to start fresh.
I've just reformated my laptop, one piece of advice, if you are burning stuff to DVD do it on a low speed.
My 3000+ mp3 files are currently in limbo because of a god damn cyclic redundancy error or something, very frustrating.
Stay Classy

Thanks for the sympathy but I'm sure it'll work out fine. It's only some of the tracks that aren't working. Also I've seen programs that can suck mp3's out of Ipods, so as soon as my brother comes back from the Northern Territory I can do that.
