i was wondering, through some of my research i've heard that some hostels may help you find local jobs or even offer work themselves. one of which is the hostel i intend to stay in, litton lane, when i fly into dublin, ire(jan 16th) i have not researched visas extensively as i am in the short process of retaining irish citizenship and passport, due to the fact i am first generation, which will make me an eu citizen and thus make ind. visas less of a priority. none-the-less any first hand knowledge of this would instill more faith in me, as under-the-table jobs other than pub work will be hard to come by in the lull of tourism in january. i hope to travel more ruraly(western irish rep. esp.)as i am doing this not just for the nightlife and random people, but for some insp. and soul-searching as well, but as dublin is prob more inclined to come-and-go travelpunks i thought it would be an easier way to put back some "next please" money. comments?

usually hostels will only offer you free accomadation in return for work, although it not be alot of work its still a good trade off. i only know of one hostel that pays and thats in paris so there is very little chance they will pay you even with a visa.

I have noticed that the big chains like HI dont lean towards letting you do that... at least the ones ive stayed. Stray towards the mom and pop hostels and you should be able to find a couple...

thanks for reply. sorry i didn't proof read before posted. i meant to ask about ones that exchange room for work, too. i am assuming, like you said, it wouldn;t be a full days chores which would give me "free" job search time. please post again if this opens more doors for reply. thanks
