Need some advice
I am graduating college here at the end of June and then want to get the hell outta here and check some new stuff out...
I don't have a lot of money saved up to travel or anything, but I wouldn't mind going somewhere for an extended time to work and make some money...
I'm a certified tennis pro, so that could come in handy somewhere...
I don't know, I'm really up for anything and just wanted to see if you guys could help me throw around some ideas...
Thanks a lot!!
Rob

My first thought would be to teach tennis on a cruise ship, but if you are looking for something different maybe this would interest you

I have read it is fairly easy to get an Aussie or NZ work visa. That could be an option.

what are you graduating with? Perhaps you can find a cool job in another country that tailors to your future career aspirations or is at least an unpaid internship that gives free food/accommodation?
Or you could try and find a job teaching tennis at a resort somewhere (perhaps Jake could hook you up in Guam...?).
Other than that, if you're travelling a lot you could probably find temporary jobs working at a bar or at a hostel for shit money as you travel, but at least you'd get to meet a ton of wicked cool people along the way.
Anyways, good luck! Any ideas as to where you want to go?

At Dave's ESL Cafe ( http://eslcafe.com) they have a board full of job offers (primarily in Asia) for native English speakers with college degrees.
I am looking into what Laura suggested for Spain (inside the EU it is tougher for Americans to get work permits). If your basics are looked after, you can travel very inexpensively. Keep your eyes open and be flexible with your plans and you will be amazed at how cheaply you can travel. In Vienna, the Wombat was offering guests 10 Euros an hour to move some furniture. (I think they comped the room also).

I'm graduating with a degree in Mass Communication and eventually want to do tv sports reporting. I've been struggling with deciding on whether to start the career now, or to just take time and see the world.
Glad to finally realize that I am only 22 and that there's the rest of my life for a career.
But, it would be helpful to find something abroad along the lines of mass comm, but I just have no idea on how to go about it...
Where would I find info on being a tennis instructor on a cruise ship...That sounds pretty enticing as well.
Anyways, thanks for the help so far guys!!!

I doubt you'll find people on these boards to tell you to start your career right away instead of travelling...
Fruit picking is an option that can get you through Europe for the price of your plane ticket.
I know there are programs in medias for volunteer workers in developing countries. Don't know if that's of interest to you.
Or if you are adventurous, give private tennis lessons to the rich people in India ! I'm sure there's a huge market there !

Both options have they're good sides. If you start your career or get into a job right away you'll get experience in the field and also have some good cash flow coming in to fund a trip. On the other hand travel experience and working abroad always looks good on a resume in my opinion and if you can't wait to save money for the trip working while you go can fund a considerable part of it.
Personally in my own situation I'm 25, and I started working immedietly after graduating. In the last year decided to go on a RTW starting this winter. I had to go right into work to pay off some loans (which I still have) and get on my feet, but at the same time once you get into your career its harder to leave it. I've struggled in the last year telling myself what I'm doing is o.k. since I'm leaving everything I've worked so hard for, but you also dont get to many oportunities in life to travel on your own terms. If life was perfect I would have travelled right after school and when I was ready to settle down I would have started my career. ...but we know thats usually not the case.
Good luck with your decision...but remember that your career/job will always be there and the chances you have to travel independently might not.
Peace

Could not possibly agree more. Think of this trip and the people you meet as micro communications. :D
