Any tradesmen looking for work in Afghanistan contact me. We are looking for experienced Electricians, Carpenters, Plumbers and anyone in construction who can use their skills and supervise the afghan workers. You get a good salary and get sent around the country. The security at the moment is good so there are no worries about safety and if there’s the slightest doubt you get guards. I came in overland from Pakistan by myself and lapped the whole country 4 months ago then got a job and now intend to stay for at least a year. If you want to carry plasterboard in London or pick fruit in Australia then go for it, but if you want to use your trade and travel a bit more adventurously then send me an email to afghan_jobs@yahoo.com. Afghanistan is crying out for Westerners with experience who can show them how its done properly and know that unreliable electricity, mountain passes at 3000m, ridiculously long friendly Afghan greetings, mad traffic and French ISAF soldiers pushing shopping trolleys with there rifles poking out of the basket through the local supermarket picking up their imported wine is all a part of the experience.

Dear god, If I did not have a family and a pension, I would be all over this, I was a roofer for 6 years.

Are you a private contactor?

Do you have a company name?

What country do you originally come from?

Do you have a place where people can check your work expericence/history?

Is the cost of flight paid for?

Where is lodging found?

Is there a web site that people can visit?

Asking someone to travel to Afghanistan is a HUGE thing, Thats why the more info the better. good luck.

Anyone, thinking of this make sure you do your research BEFORE commiting to anything.

I went to see if bootsnall's forums are still crappy (they are) and saw that this guy had posted the exact same thing on there.

Spam? :greenguy:

Yes the company I work for is a private contractor and I will give out the name to anyone who sends me an email. I just don't want to post it on a forum. We do embassies and Afghan government work. We don’t have a web site but I can send any information you like. We are registered. You get accommodation in our compound but if you’re like me and like your freedom then you can be set up in a hotel all paid for. I am a 34yo Australian and a plain old electrician. I came over here looking for work as all the jobs I found on the net were for engineers or with US companies who want US citizens for security clearance and would lock you down on a compound which I would hate as I like my freedom, that’s why I travel. It would have been easier if someone did this for me but I enjoyed getting here and starting work when I wanted to. I am doing this as I am overloaded with work and I know squat about plumbing and I don’t get along with wood. I have told the boss I am looking for tradesmen like me but he doesn't know how, another reason I keep his company name off forums. I haven’t asked about flights yet as I am just seeing if anyone is interested, but I cant see why not. I have put the same request in 3 forums as I am looking for people of the same creed as me, travelers. I will give any info you want if anyone writes to me.

P.S. Jake. While back in Aus. I met up with locksmiths who had just come back from East Timor and were about to head off to West Africa putting in security doors and alarm systems. I know there is heaps of work out there I just wouldn’t know where to look but I will ask around.

A friend of mine in the Canadian Military has just returned from a year in Afghanistan and said the people (locals) were some of the finest people he has ever come across. Good luck!
