I have been seriously looking at the job op's for teaching ESL in korea and it looks like it could be a pretty viable option for those who want to travel and earn some extra $$ - it looks as though most contracts are for 1 years. You have to have a degree though - it doesn't matter what in. And from what I have heard you can pretty easily save 1million won per month and that will allow you to go out a bit have a bit of a party and buy some european food - so if you don't do any of that I have heard it is pretty easy to save more.

Check out daves esl cafe for a whole esl korea forum for those who may want to find out more...

my friend from NZ has been in korea on and off for the past 3 or so years teaching, she loves it, but finds it a bit harder since she isnt in Seoul, and theres less foreginers where she is.

i know another guy who did it on Japan for 2 years back in the day, and he just got his mates art degree and botched the name on it, copied it and gave them the copy saying his house got robbed. lol. he still got the job, but hoped they never asked him about art :D

Wow thats pretty crazy! From researching a lot I've actually heard of a few programs in Asia that you don't need a degree for, just over 18, diploma, english native.

This is something I'm really interested in after graduation. On one hand, it would be smart to go into a job in my field (engineer) right away to get some experience, but I'm only young once, and I want to either do a working holiday in Australia or New Zealand, or one of these teaching opportunities.

There is a NGO called ACTED that provides good internships and jobs for engineers, in developping countries. Very serious and quality place, that works in collaboration with the UN, Oxfam, etc. They offer dozens of positions per year. I think they require a master degree though.

Have a look here.

Oh, awesome. Yeah, I'm actually working on my masters degree right now, so that would be perfect. Thanks for the link!

They offer great working conditions (flights paid, montly stipend, insurances, etc.).

Also look at the "reporting interns" positions, as they sometimes are looking for someone with an engineer background.
