Default SWAP - do you start right away?

Hi!
I've signed up for the SWAP program (Canadian work abroad thing) and I am wondering if it's actually useful at all?

I'm going to New Zealand but am not really sure where I want to stay. The hostel where I get 2 nights "free" stay is in Auckland so that's where I thought I would base myself. However, i'm not sure I want to do that.

So what exactly happens when you get to the country? Do you have to start looking for work right away? Can you stall it at all? Or does access to the job bank or whatever the perks you get are expire?
