doing online uni/study while backpacking?
has anyone ever gone backpacking and taken their uni course with them? *when* i finally convince the boy that backpacking is the best thing ever, im thinking of studying at the same time- honestly, i think this is the only way i will get what i want-travelling! lol hes worried travelling will be a step back in his career-but if he furthered his "paper" education at the same time, im hoping thats a selling point. life experiance isnt enough for him lol
so has anyone had any experiance with this? i have visions of us laying on phuket beach doing assigments or snuggling in a backpackers room in sapporo doing homework. haha i know its not gonna be all that easy tho...

I actually am doing my degree via correspondence at the moment, Personally it is hard enough for me to sit down and do my assignments as it is in boring old wanganui, although I guess i go away a lot.
Its a great idea so long as you have the commitment to do it, or if your like me and for some reason seem to be good at bullshitting my way through assignments and not doing much of the actual coursework.

I tried to do that on my current trip. I thought I would be stationary so it would be no different than life back home...uh yeah right. I am way too optimistic. Within a month I knew I was way to far behind. Fortunately my teacher is giving me an "Incomplete" so I can retake it when I return.
It is a nice thought but I think it takes incredible willpower to do so. Any transiting makes it damn near impossible.
Also part of it was that my sister was traveling with me so I felt the need to travel weekends frequently. I rely on Friday/Saturday to catch up back home.

doing more than one class would probably be rough. Sounds like you just need to get him a little more wrapped around your pinky so you can do a regular trip
Has he been backpacking before? Maybe a couple weeks vacation wherever he'd most like to go would change things.

cool, thanks for your input guys
hes doing a diploma by corresponace right now- well hes waiting for the corse material to be sent, i guess it will be a bit of a test for him to see if he can motivate himself enough.
we came to an agreement. for the past 2 years we have focussed on his career, and he hasnt really gotten that far up the food chain, so now we get to do what i want (YAY!!!) hes not so keen on it, but im hoping his attitude changes once we are on the road
