Field School
Archaeology..mmm 
So I might be going to Ireland to do an 8-week field school this May or June and I'm THRILLED.
Just wondering if anyone's ever been to Achill or Galway, and if you would recommend leaving early or staying after the school to work and explore Ireland for a month. Would this be rediculously expensive? I need $8000 for the field school and have about half. But to stay longer.....would that be wise? Know of any cheap places to stay for a month and a half? Or should I look for a place to rent? How hard is it to get work?

Definitely hunt around at hostels and pubs... you can probably find some basic work. At a hostel you might even get free board.
Save some extra cash to trip around and while you are there you can probably have a better chance securing something. Just wing it.

ahhhh so jealous! I would be stoked abotu field school. I was looking at physical anthrpological field schools and was looking at one in africa that focused on excavations, which is kind of what I want to do with my life.
