hey there!
well i'm headin to europe at the end of the yr from australia. gonna backpack for around 10 months, just workin from here to there.
my query is.. does anyone know where i look to find seasonal work on the ski resorts...? i will be able to start work from 1st jan. the season is from november - april.. but surely there must be work going around?
can it be easily organised in advance even though i am living so far away at the moment?

cheers

I really have no idea where you'd start - perhaps check the websites of resorts that appeal and see if there's any sort of employment link? Otherwise, I guess you could just show up and see if there are any openings - really don't know what the casual employment situation is like on the ski hills. I would guess you'd need some language skills, though.

Sorry, it's not much to go on, but good luck!

I'm an aussie too working at Perisher this year, thinking of getting some ski resort work in europe this coming winter... there are websites like http://www.seasonworkers.com/fe/ for finding jobs but a lot of the resorts will want you to commit for a whole season. If you think you can only come in halfway, you might actuall have a pretty good chance of finding a job if you go to the resort and ask around.... i know thats how it works here, after about the first month we see ads going up everywhere for employment to replace workers have had to leave unexpectedly, been fired, quit etc. i googled ski resort employment and came up with heaps of stuff so you should be able to find something on the internet before you go

I knew a guy from Australia who had gone to Innsbruck, Austria in the winter and got a job giving lessons to little kids. Apparently he went there never having snowboarded before and just started doing it everyday and got pretty good, then found this job just by being at the resort everyday. He said the pay was pretty good, but that he got insane tips from the rich European parents that bring thier kids to places like that. If youve got the money, I wouldnt let the lack of a job lined up beforehand stop you.

i worked the canadian rockies last year, and i want to work alps this year. dont think it will happen though. considering i cant even speak anything other then english and french visas are a pain to get. im thinking of working from now till about christmas then just buming it out there.

another thing to remember is that most european ski hills wont give a complementary ski pass, even though you work for the company.
