I am looking to spend about three months there doing volunteer work and living there but I do not even know where to start looking. Has anyone here ever done or heard of a volunteering program in Africa that they would recommend?

yeah I've been looking into it too. global vision international (GVI) a british company seems to have some really cool programs, i-to-i (also british) seems good as well and then, yeah swap. For me, global vision seems to have the best program for what I'm interested in doing, but I guess it all really depends on what you want to do and how much you're willing to shell out.

I highly, highly, highly recommend Global Vision International! I just got back from volunteering with their project in Guatemala and it was the best time of my life. I will write a longer thing about my experience in the volunteer stories section, but if you have any questions about GVI let me know and Ill do my best to help.

wow thanks for the tip sarg. I'm really glad you had a good time with GVI....makes me feel a little better about what I want to do! It's always good to have a legit resource telling you about how good a company is. They look amazing though. Can't wait to hear about your trip!
