im looking at going to south america for a few months backpacking, whats the go on sending packages back home?

i will want to shop, but i know i cant bring all that stuff home with me on trek (haha just imagine) so i was thinking of just posting it all home in like 5-10kg lots (clothes and crap i pick up along the way)

im guessing main cities and capitals will be the best and easiest place to send from, but how reliable is it? what expenses should i expect (i really have no idea) i dont mind shipping by sea, is there other private companies dealing with international postage there? or just post offices.

thanks

dhl, ups and fedex are almost in every country, look for them in the yellow pages, sometimes they will go and pick up the package for free.
