No Peru
After much deliberation, I've had to postpone my trip to Peru that's next month. I was able to do the voucher thing and have a credit on my account for my next flight with them (for a stiff fee... sigh).
I have absolutely NO money thanks to the army screwing with me and not paying my my travel pay from the deployment (well not at the moment anyway, I'll get my money the big question is when) and then I learned I'm not going to be getting my VA checks until October, so going to Peru for 3 weeks in September is really unrealistic, especially as I am trying to move right now. I'm freaking pissed and sad but that's the way it goes.
What my alternate plan is, is do something the month of December or in March for spring break. In December I will get to do a longer trip than in March but I don't know if Peru is even desirable in December. Spirit Airlines flies to other places too that I'm considering, including Costa Rica, the Caribbean, Colombia (though I'm not entirely convinced that's safe), Guatemala, Panama, and the Dominican Republic.
I know some of those locations would be PERFECT for spring break but I don't know really. I really really want to go to Peru though. I guess it will depend on money because I got those tix to Peru for dirt cheap and now in December, the price of my credit is worth only a one way ticket. So I guess we will see.
Bahhhhhh!

Sorry to hear the change of plans. Nothings worse than getting excited about a trip, and having to postpone/cancel it near the travel date.
However your alternatives look just as good. All of which should be nice and warm for a winter break trip.

Awww that sucks Nicole, but it probably wouldnt have been as much fun as you would be worried about money the whole time right? Besides if you wait til March you'll have more money and it'll break up the monotony of the nothingness that comes after Christmas and new years lol

Sorry to hear you have to postpone your Peru trip. :frown: If I remember, December is the rainy season in Peru (which is why Mike didn't go last year). There's always the spring though. That, or any of your alternatives sound great. You know I LOVED Costa Rica!

I'm pretty bummed but I'll go somewhere, it's just a matter of where. Sigh.

Bummer, Nicole. But I understand the idea of putting off a trip because you want to save it for when you can do it up right -- look at me with Peru! This will be the fourth time I've planned on going. Speaking of which, it isn't that far off till Jenny and I head for the Inca Trail...woo-hoo!
I'm with the others, go to Costa Rica instead. It's always great.

You can also do some VERY FUN river rafting! (Since you were one of the folks who talked me into it.)

^um hell yes! I totally forgot about that. I haven't been rafting in 2 years. Sigh. Speaking of which I need to get down to the New/Gauley Rivers in WV for some rafting.
