Going to Argentina!
I finally did it, and cashed in those miles for a heavily discounted ticket to Buenos Aires! I've been waiting for what seems like years to get the opportunity to take a trip for nothing more than the sheer pleasure of it.
I'm excited to be going back to AR after spending a year there in 2001, so I will hopefully get to visit two of my best friends that I've still been in contact with. It will be strange!!
I'm going with my boy Alex, and we have a little over a month and a half, starting in March, to make this a great adventure. I've found wonderful info on the boards here and have started planning a little. I would love to see some of Brazil and Chile on this trip, and I'll be visiting re-Villa Regina in Rio Negro, since that's where I lived for the year. So I'm wondering, what are some spectacular places we shouldn't miss in all three of these countries? If you've been, what were your favorite spots?
Just wanted to share the good news! Thanks!

Nice work. Sometimes pulling the trigger and getting the flight is the hardest but also the most rewarding. Have a great time on your trip.

My friend is off to Chile Dec 2nd I believe. Going up through Argentina on his quest to make it from the straight of Magellan to the U.S. on land(as much as possible). I'll have to ask him what his plans are in Argentina, he's been doing a ton of research.

That would be awesome thanks! I just found out that Brazil requires a $130 visa to get in, so I think we'll be skipping that. We are uber-budgeters)

Yeah I have a few I'll try to get up here! All my pics down there were "real photos", so I've needed to scan them on the comp. It was the best time of my life so far, like many study abroad years. It was also during the financial crisis, which was kinda crazy, but also so cool to be there during that time! Exchange students were almost sent home, but luckily the ones out any direct turmoil, like BA, could stay. There were still grocery store raids, road blocks, some riots and also peaceful protests where I was in Rio Negro.
