Default I Go To Dubai Tomorow. What

ok it came about a little unexpected and the story behind it is very long and probably boring so ill just say this....I planned a trip to Europe was meant to leave in March next year. meanwhile my parents are in Dubai (have jobs there) and i am left here with my Older (much more imature) brother. I stayed to save money.......Well long story short, me and my brother didnt really get on, well that is an understatement, He beat the s*#^t out of me and my parents found out and booked me the earliest flight possible to Dubai. which so happens to be tomorow.

So yeah im going to Dubai. WOOOOOOOOOT, im still doing the europe thing in March aswell. so its a win win situation for me. i get to spend time with my parents (this is a good thing for me, coz i miss them), i still get to save for Europe (dad lined me up a job at a little irish pub). and most of all. I GET TO SEE ANOTHER PART OF THE WORLD....DUBAI here i come....

If anyone is in that area in the next 2 months give me a shout. im there untill January 20 2008

Sadly, I've never been to the middle east-it is on my hit list. But I know many T-Punks on here have so they may be able to offer assistance.

i love how Dubai is the anti-hardline islamic country. Case in point, you'll be working at a bar. Have fun.

I actually thought they could end up being the model for the rest of the Islamic world. Then I found out that anyone who has ever been to Israel is denied entrance and their tolerance of alcohol only applies to non-Muslims confined to hotels.

They are closer than many though! Definitely post some details, I am headed there in March 08 or in June 08.

I loved Dubai, make sure you check out the Madinat Jeremiah hotel (not sure about the spelling) also the wild wadi waterpark and do the desert 4wd drive tour.

Good luck!

YEah, does suck about your bro....but Dubai is awesome!! For some things to do, go to Emirates mall they have an indoor ski place, its sooo much fun!! And yeah, Wild Wadi is awesome! Dubai has some really good clubs if youre into that, and a really cool music scene! I did a desert safari when I was there, and its alot of fun. You go 4x4 in the desert and then camel rides, belly dancing, food, sheesha etc.... Hope you enjoy Dubai!!!!

Well i got here a few days ago now....and OMG. my first trip and it couldnt have been more exciting. this place is amazing, it is such a culture shock. i am in amazement every second i am here. i dont have alot of time im on my mums computer at work, but when i get internet up and running i will post some of the pics i have taken. just a quick run dowm for now though....I live right infront of a Mosque which is probably the coolest thing ever coz when they go to pray (5 times a day) the prayer comes over loud speaker, it is beautiful. I am going on one of those desert tours in 1 weeks. That will be awsome. I have been to the emrites mall (with the ski slope in slide) that was wicked (ill send photos). seen the biggest building in the world. gone to the mini Venice that they have made (best markets there. been along the water, o and went to this really seedy area to buy real stolen designer label stuff, scored myself real Armani glasses.

Anyway mum is standing here and i dont want to bother her so i am off for now. i will be back on in the next few days to give an up date. and hopefully some pics

I was talking to my brother-in-law's cousin, who spent a year teaching English there, and he said it was a lot of fun.

Have a great time!

I know this is my first place that i have traveled to, and it may seem a little silly but in all honesty i dont know if there is another place in the world that would be quite so unique, it is odd almost.

one minute you are surrounded by the most massive high rises you have ever seen, so close to eachother you could jump balconies, where everything is imaculate, the grass, the palms, the people, the side walk, the cars. then you turn a corner and its like you are in beirut, you drive in to this over populated street, where the road is just a sea of people, all dressed in rags, and dirty clothes, selling things from stalls, and offering anyone who passes to be taken to there room, so that they can show you there display of stolen goods. however your driving through this seedy place and all the suden in the middle of it all is this ally (the Gold sook) i probably spelt it wrong. And there is this massive street deadicated to gold, the shops are drapped in it, all they sell is gold gold gold and you can barter. it is just insane, then you turn to realise you are in the slums, its just such a contrast.

That was probably my favourite part so far, driving from the emirates mall (most imaculate, overdone, insanely expensive mall in the world, to this dirty dangerous seedy area that surrounds this gold suek. after that we went to the import and customs dock where all the stuff is bought in by boat. That gob smacks you. these old brocken woodern hulls that carry goods from indonesia to dubai, with mass amounts of people aboard, you wounder how they stay afloat. yet everything gets passed, no matter what they bring in customs generally turn there heads. its crazy.

Speaking of crazy. DO NOT drive here. unless you want to die young. no kidding i have seen about 8 crashes 3 of which have happened in front of my own eyes, people continuously drive with there horns on, and way way way over the speed limit. and cops, they dont care. o and one thing that i never expected....Everything is under construction. everything. even the tallest building in the world still has a krain on it. without fail nearly every building has a crane on it. but you realise why when someone says that they built the hole of palm jemeirah (the island shaped like a palm tree , there is three of them, that had to be built in the ocean) in 3 years. i have posted a few pics on my myspace site so if anyone is interested have a look. i also have a few movies, mainly of the mosque across the road from our unit when it goes off. and of the buildings at night. but they should be on there shortly aswell. this is my url....
