I'm sure that each one of us has a fave way to spend free time - I'm just wondering what that is. And if you have a very creative way to relax and spend your free time post a reply - I'm sure there are a few crazy stories out there.

I kind of do a mix of all those things. I love to go for a long bike ride or a hike or a run, but sometimes just hanging around on the couch when you got free time is nice. I mainly like to do anything outdoors though, ride, run, fish, swim, boat, whatever. If it is outside, I'm a happy guy.

I voted spending time with friends, family and loved ones. But, every weekend calls for something different...depending on my "status". Sometimes I love being with my friends...just laughing, drinking and having a good time. Other times...I like being by myself...whether it be watching t.v., going for a run, hike, reading..whatever.

I thoroughly enjoy the nights when I have the house to myself, a bottle of wine and a good movie. I usually throw in an hour of bathtub time. Complete with candles, music and of course...my glass of wine. Oh...and occasionally an herbal remedy might join the party as well.

my boyfriend and i are both really close with our families so we spend at least two nights a week with them. on my own, i read quite a bit, practice cooking a whole lot and lately i also go out for a beer or three with either of my bestfriends. my little brother plays football too and so most of my saturday mornings are booked! i'd like to start exercising with some of my free time, but we'll see what happens. oh, i also dedicate an hour a week to watching lost. i was a little embarassed at first, to be addicted to a t.v. show (i don't have cable, and hardly watch the crap) - but now there's no shame in my game - j.j. abrhams is the man!

I usually end up vegging, chilling with friends, or playing video games when I'm up at school, but if I'm home -- and what I'd rather do pretty much all the time -- I play some football (soccer). Frankly, if I could, I'd quit school in a heartbeat to play 7 days a week.

I go for a run with my soccer ball, jump on the bowflex for a bit, take a shower, grab the laptop and an icey beverage and head for my favorite spot in the whole world. Whenever I am there, no matter where it is I am comfortable.

My hammock.

Best relaxation tool ever.

btw. I am ordering a ton of them from northeast brasil. The best hammocks in the world. 80 plus shipping if you want one! send me a pm!

Oh and they are HUGE. Could fit two of me in there, which if you know me, should mean something.

I do lots of stuff. Normally it involves watching TV or playing video games. Or sometimes its going out for drinks and playing pool with my best friend.

I know its lazy, but when I've been working for days and days without any time off I start dreaming about my couch and as long as I have all the right remotes, my phone and my laptop, I can spend the whole day there... and i often do... although every now and then I'll feel productive and do some sewing or something on my days off, or if it is on a weekend (but its very rare that I'm not working on a weekend) my mum and I will usually go have coffee. I have come to the conclusion that I work too much..

I 've come a long way in relaxing. I used to be driven to be busy working on art in every spare moment. Now I am taking a break since I took a job in the fall. I started to take sunday's and not work but I was required to work Sunday at my job. When I have a day off I can sit patiently watching a baseball game or flip back and forth between the history channel and travel channel at home on the couch. I usually go for a walk, make tea and possibly cook pasta with garlic, olive oil, herbs, etc. which also puts me in a daze to sit and watch tv for more time.

Those are some wicked suggestions. I guess I relly have to work on my 'free time' and really start taking care of myself. This weekend is going to be (once again) hectic for me - a house warming party later on today, a bridal shower tomorrow and in between I'm working on designing a new web page for someone AND organizing stuff for my scouting troop. I'm thinking I have to allocate some time just for myself. My philosophy is "keep busy and stay out of trouble", but that will have to be re-thought to make sure that I don't exhaust myself.

That sounds great Jake! Actually I just got myself a hammock on my last trip (Yucatan) and I'm waiting for some good weather to try it out properly. I'm hoping that it will be warm enough to take it camping with me over the May long weekend.

Hmm I put read a book cause free time is time when I don't have work, and can't spend time to hang out with friends or family... So it's spend time with friends and family, but if that doesn't happen, I read a book.

No vote, since it's a combo.

This weekend I went out and partied, went for a looooong bike ride (which is killing me now, leg muscle-wise, but I guess exhaustion is sometimes relaxing :P), read some, chilled with friends, and called up my friend in OZ to talk her into travelling with me, and did random travel planning.

Other than that, activities of choice are eating, sleeping, basking and people-watching. Throw in a jam session/concert/something music related too. And of course, I am an internet junkie. :P

I also can't vote because I'm a combo person, on wednesday school was getting to me so I went fly fishing for an hour, when I'm feeling lazy I watch TV, and every now and then, like today, I'll do something off the wall like raft down the Royal Gorge.

last night I got supremely smashed at a house party I went to with the wife.
then today I laid around in my bikini sipping iced coffee and watching "the knot" on we all day long.

I know. Lame. And immature. But I figure there's only so much time I can get away with it so I should enjoy it....

I didn't vote cos I have a combo really.

I like to chill out and have a bath if I'm feeling stressed, but unfortunately in my uni accommodation we only have showers, so I only get baths when I go home!

I also like to lie down and watch some TV or read a book, especially if I've been at work and on my feet all day.

And if the weather is nice, I like going out and playing frisbee or something with my friends. The summer a couple of years ago when my friends and I all lived on campus was great. There was this huge grassy area, we'd go into the dining hall, steal a dinner tray, someone would bring a tennis ball and we'd go and play "dinner tray rounders" on the grass outside. So much fun!
