Hotels on the Strip can break your budget but staying in Las Vegas can be affordable. In the downtown area are many motels, mostly under $25, which include cable TV, kitcheonette, & even swimming pools. Most of them will list their amenities & price out front. So look around. (I stayed at the Downtowner for $21/night.)
Try the Stratosphere (north LV Strip) - they do specials for only $29 per night. Also, try off Strip stuff like the Palace Station ($19 a night sometimes) or old school downtown like the Plaza ($25 a night).
Warning: Fridays and Saturdays can often be $100 or more higher than weekday prices. There is always somewhere cheap to sleep in LV. Keep pushing on for a hotel/motel, our hostels are nasty!
If you plan on gambling a lot, always register with the gold members clubs(I think that is what they are called). Anyways, there are lots of ways to get comped for free services in hotels if you spend money. I have been to Vegas 3 times and have never had to buy a meal. the hotel comped them in there hotel and my room was comped the 2nd time I went. Call around and find out what deals are out there.
