so then do you have iranian citizenship as well, if you were born there? Or did you have to give that up when you moved to the US?

Technically, I believe you give up other citizenships when you become an American, but Iran's stance is once a citizen, always a citizen - so yeah, I'm dual And I guess as long as one of your parents is from there, you get to have a passport, no matter where you're born.
My sister's lucky that way - she's got Iran by blood, UK by birth, and US by living here.

Technically, you can have dual citizenship recognized by the American govt. it is just harder to do.... (Currently I am trying to dream up a way to get dual citizenship... my grandfather was born in Canada). Don't know if its possible, but I am going to try!

I've been looking into getting Norwegian citizenship. But I don't look very (stereotypically) Norwegian, haha. I doubt it will happen but I can dream, can't I??

Don't you mean creaming your hejjab?
Actually, it's amazing what the girls can get away with wearing in Iran nowadays, providing there's a headscarf present. The only trouble is, single women aren't allowed into the country - you have to have the written consent of - or be accompanied by - your husband.
WTF is up with THAT!?

re: what girls are getting away with wearing
this is kind of related... i like to click on the girls faces on the top right of the screen and see their personals. albeit, it's the uae not iran - a tad more liberal i'd say... anyway, haha - it's an old link, but one i enjoyed good and well a while back.

Yeah - UAE is quite different. Although Iran now wants to open up a free-trade zone/resort town to rival Dubai.. Interesting to see how that'll come along.
