    It was more like the "good idea fairy" got them for us. They figured (rightly) that 90 pounds of bomb suit and another 10-25 pounds of tools and stuff might get pretty difficult when the temperature is in the 110+ degree range. If you walk a quarter mile down to the bomb with all this stuff on, you might not be in that good a shape while trying to disarm the damned thing.

    Unfortunately, they didn't think about the fact that you have to find somewhere in the Humvee to store the Segway, along with the robot, weapons, ammo, water, radios, explosives, body armor and tools...

    It was a good idea, though - many of the civilian squads have them, they're about the only thing you could safely ride with the damned suit on...
