Default Introduction and Hello from Nicaragua

I am so happy that I found this forum! I quit my job and Escaped My Cubicle one month ago to go travel Latin America for 6 months with my wife. We left Washington DC on Dec 8th and had a one way flight to San Salvador El Salvador and then will travel to Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil.

I documented the year leading up to our trip, the decision to quit our jobs and how life is on the road is treating us. If anyone is sitting at their desk and thinking about traveling I would be more than happy to chat with you about how to do it.

It was a really tough decision to leave everything we had in the States and also leave our family. But its sites like travelpunk that help keep us going.

The friends that we have met along the way and the experiences.

Looking forward to all the great information that is on this forum.

Thanks,
Jason

Hi Dig,

Yes, I have always been a traveler. I am very lucky that over the past 10 years I have been able to travel to almost 25 countries. When I graduated college I went to the Middle East for 5 months, then I came back worked for two years and then backpacked SE Asia. Worked another two years and traveled to Brazil, Bolivia and Peru.

Once I got married me and my wife traveled a bit, but the past 6 years the longest trip I was able to take was 10 days because of my corporate job. Which does not fullfil my need to explore the world and live the dream.

Looking forward to learning a lot from this forum!

All the best,
Jason

Hey Jason!!! Like you, in August 2009, I left the U.S. behind and left for Nicaragua!! I lived there for 8 months, traveling the country and then basing myself out of Granada... Nicaragua is in my heart now, as Im sure it is in yours! I left Nica, spent some time in Honduras and am now living and traveling in Guatemala... I will return to Nica in March and probably stay there again, unless something keeps me in Guat...
Hows life in Nica treating you?? Are you staying in any one city?? If you need any advice or have any questions about Nica, feel free to ask, I know the country quite well....
And congrats on your decision!!! Its the best decision ever!!!!
