I've always said that when i finish university i will go travelling. I have fantasised about the places i would go and what i would do for aslong as i can remember and with only 1 year to go, i actually have to start planning.

I live in rainy manchester england, but am from a some what mixed background, my mum is english with irish parents who live locally, my dad is from pakistan, he'd made the trip between Lahore and england several times when he was my age, by car and by public transport. I have a massive family in Pakistan that i hardly know, i last went to see them in 2000 and haven't been able to afford or get the free time to return. Prior to that trip i went to Pakistan when i was about 5 years old and i don't remember much of that trip.

My plan is to now reverse the trip my dad made all those years ago, by bus or train, by hook or by crook, i am gonna get to pakistan and take in Europe along the way.

I havent done any extensive travelling, i have camped at music festivals and i recently camped in Cologne during the world cup, but for the most part i don't know where to start.

Any advice, where do i start?

WELCOME!

Their are hundreds of threads on these boards going over most desinations in Europe, I'm sure they'll help you!

My advice is to look at a map and draw a few lines on where you'd like to go. Good luck!

well i was thinking i'd try and get as far as istanbul and fly the rest, i know it might sound abit close minded but i might give afghanistan and iraq a miss for the time being.

Well Tariq...welcome to the boards!

Your trip sounds realy interesting but isn't it funny how words are "played" in a sentence when i read the title of the topic i thought you wanted to be the first person to time travel ha ha dont listen to me im just an idiot!

Im not surprised you want to miss out some regions but how cool would it be to drive to Pakistan in a bus or something lol it would be like cliff richards "summer holiday"
