Hey everyone.
I applied to club med for a bartenders position in the turks and cacos. Today they called me back and left me a message about going for an audition. It sounds like a beautiful paradise to work in. I know its hard work, and long hours, but I already do that here. Just wondering if anyone here has done that, and if I should seriously consider it? Thanks

No such thing as a stupid question.

Club Med is an all-inclusive resort, with over 100 locations around the world. It’s basically a very well known resort that focuses on what each individual guest wants. If you are into extreme sports there will be someone there that can help locate these for you. If you are in to shopping someone will tell you were the best deals are and so on and so on.

These are not my bag of chips cause I would rather go with out knowing that everything is going to be okay. Maybe run into a problem or two... not have some guy I'm paying solve all of my problems. But that would not stop me from wanting to work for them for a while.

Here are a couple of links

http://www.clubmed.com/usa/
http://www.clubmed.ca/
http://www.clubmed.com.au/ <-- I think that you are from OZ, Correct?

oh ok, i thought it was like a nightclub or something. It sounds pretty cool, but like you its not really my thing. Pretty damn expensive too, but you could get some of that back in the all inclusive alcohole

It would be awsome to get a job with them though, you could transfer to different club meds all around the world!! Does anyone know what the wages are like?

Thanks everyone.
I was just looking through the paper before work, here in T.O. and this little postcard type flyer fell out. It was an advertisment for Club Med and I thought hmmmmm...
I could work on a beach all day slingin beers. So I went online and applied. Voila they called me within a week!!!
That means one of two things. Either I rocked it on my application, or they suck to work for, thats why they called so quick. I think the pay ranges from 2000-3000 us a month. Plus tips I hope.

I've done the all-inclusive thing, and It was kinda boring, oh wait that could have been my company.

But I think I'll take the job if I get it. But not until I get back from europe!!!!! (72 days till I leave).

I'll check into the free vacation hookups

Yup, id say give it a shot... whats there to loose. Just think of the perks. Get to rub shoulders with the rich, see how the other half lives... Eitherway, get the job, and if you get disgruntled just go Fight Club style...

Good luck
Oz.

Do they have you sign up for a set amount of time, like 3 or 6 months or something? I always thought working on a cruise ship would be kind of cool. Do like a 6 month gig and see a few ports of call and be out on the water for a while. Granted your working so it is not exactly the same as a regular travel trip but still seems like it would have a few perks.

yeah, my friend's brother is working as a DJ at a club med somewhere in central america (i cant remember exactly which island.......) but apparently its a really good job. Unfortunately you cant swing vacations for your family though . But once ure hired, you can work at any club med in the world that you want (or at least he can when his contract is up) which i thought was kind of cool.

Me and my friend, Naomi, who lives in Manila now, have this plan. we're gonna work at club med's all around the world, switch it up every 6 months for kicks. then, once we get enough money, we're gonna open a discotheque.

it's gonna be awesome.

congrats on the job though! haha, you're ahead of us in our own dream...

That's so cool teri. Congrats. I've often thought about that job. Though I think it helps if you have a second language, so I have to focus on that first. I think working for club med is party party party..Not bad for a job eh.

That sounds reall cool. Just don't count on much in the way of tips. Many all-inclusives don't allow tipping at all. Even if they do allow it, many Europeans do not tip much anyway so you may find the tipping aspect to be far different than what you would expect to earn working in a bar in the U.S. Good luck!

Hey guys. Well i had decided to wait until after my trip to take the interview. but then my trip fell through. Money is soooo hard to hold on to. anyways, my procrastinating butt hasn't done anything about it since. and right now doesn't even seem like the right time anymore. I have a better paying bar job right now, there's talk of moving me up to a manager's postion, and i've finally just paid off all of my debt. I actually got aproved for a credit card again. and im still saving for my australia trip. I kinda wish i took the job back then oh well. if ever the time calls for it, i can just apply again, and hope for a call. or i can find where i put that chicks number
