I finally realised i could sign in to TP (i registered a while ago and it said something about validation, yea i didnt really read it) then i tried signing in today to see what it would do and it let me in, then i couldnt post, but its ok i worked it out!!

Anyway, i am a female, 18 yrs old from New Zealand. I have been lurking around (yes i know sorry!!) for a couple of months now. I didnt really think i should register since im not gunna travel for a while but here i am anyway!

This is by far the most useful travel message boards!!

I am studying a bachelor of business through correspondance (accounting major, yes i know what ur thinking!) and working full time, the plan is to finish my bbs june 2009 and take off on my OE july 09.

My basic plan is to go England/Ireland/Scotland etc for 6-12 Months, maybe working and travelling, then europe for 8-12mnths, then over to canada/usa maybe work for up to a year and travel around both of them, then to South America for 6Mnths or so.

I cant wait and really want to leave now! But i know i should get my degree out of the way first!!!

Anyway i think thats about all i have to say, If anyone has any questions about NZ i can try to answer them!

Thanks for having such a great community!!

Welcome to the boards.

I know the feeling about wanting to go away NOW but other things like uni and money getting in the way.

It was because of a weekend in Prague I decided to quit uni to go traveling. It turned more into a year out with working here a lot. Luckily my jobs were fairly flexable and I managed to fit in a good few trips between july 04 and sept 05.

I too have thought about putting a halt on uni, but then thought hey i will still be young (21!) when im finished my degree so i may as well do it!

glad you decided to join in! if all the world wide travelers that lurk these boards would do the same, just imagine what travelpunk could be. so thanks for stepping up.

wow, your trip sounds extensive. what is that, like 3 years traveling? crazy, you're gonna have some mad skills by the time you get done.

hang in there...it'll be time to go before you know it.

Thanks,

It sounds like such a long time! But i will try to work in Uk and Canada for prob around 6months each so that will cut down the time a bit, maybe even a year in canada, not sure yet!!

Thats what TP is for! So i can decide how long where to go etc! When i first started looking around i only wanted to go to europe, and mainly just france, but look where i am now!

Nup, the place your thinking of is Whangarei, so yup similar name! I havnt been there since i was like 9 also.

There is actually a debate going on about that at the moment here in NZ, some of the Maori want to change the name of Wanganui to Whanganui, (i dont really know the whole story, but the river name has the h in it) but it was decided against it, all our mail would go to Whangarei!! Needless to say some people are not happy about it.

Where do u live extremefx?

Welcome!!

Yay for no more lurking!

You trip seems like the ultimate dream trip.... Don't worry I joined four years before I could travel (I'm still waiting...) It's crazy how quickly the time goes though!

Any questions, feel free to ask!

Yes! lol

People mostly visit Edinburgh id say, but it is well worth a visit and Glasgow is good for a night out. Inverness is pretty popular too especially with Japanese coach tours. Loch ness is a bit over rated in my opinion lol - but Urquhart castle is cool.

The isle of Skye in the western isles is spectacular. Ullapool up the west coast is a nice wee place too. Theres also the very wet Fort William beside Ben Nevis.

I haven’t been to the other western isles or the northern isles. Its pretty expensive to fly up there and i dont fancy 12hours by boat from Aberdeen.

The North East has a lot to see as well especially distilleries, castles and stone circles as well as being close to the cairngorms. Aberdeen isnt really a place for tourists but the surrounding area has a lot on offer.

In the cntral belt (between ggow and edin) Stirling is worth spending a day or two in to see the castle and the majestic Wallace monument.

well done turisty,

if you like whisky, and to be honest, who doesnt ,then scotland is a damn good place to go,there are loads of distillaries in the north,i like to think the uk as 4 countries england, wales, northen ireland, centrel belt and the rest of scotland, for the pure fact that centrel belt is so very much different then the rest of scotland, the natural heritage of it,ok,im english and ive lived in scotland most of my life, but it is home, and i feel quite deeply towards it,but meh,ive kinda got side-tracked,oops

um,i've been to orkneys, shetland i think, unsure, and ive been to skye, and two little islands called islay and jura,if ya like ya whisky,i recommend islay, you might think its a bit of heaven theres taht many distil's there, theres 3 within 2 miles or something i think,

ok fact - scotland is mainly for tourists who like the country, hills and jus want to get awy from it all,and so many people visit it,turisty is correct tho, loch ness is way to over-hyped,its amzing how much money you can make from something that is or is not real,no real proof, pictures but i think most or all of them have been possible other things,so who knows

ben nevis is good, maybe not as high as the alps or pyrenese or any other hills out there, but bein the highest in uk,which is one of the main countries in the world, its kinda nice to say you been up it,ive been up it,was easy ,

stirling, perth, hmm perth is bit over-populised,not as big as aberdeen or glasgow or edinburgh, but, nah, dont recommend it, stirling is a good place to go,aberdeen is a good palce to go,st andrews, not dundee, not glasgow, not edinburgh, inverness, thurso, wick, john o' groats, ullapool, the black isle (just north of inverness),and all the islands on the west if ya can,but you have to remember that on sundays it like very religious on the west,so most things will be kinda closed,so no pubs, petrol stations ,etc, and no services running such as buses or ferries or flights, altho im not sur,i think ferries are going to be running soon on a sunday, and flights maybe running, ill check it out for you if ya want, and i wont check with out your say so,otherwise its a waste,um

what else, findhorn has a nice beach, roseisle i think its called also, there kinda along the top,to the east of inverness, you go along the A96,then at forres go the way to raf kinloss, and in the middle of kinloss you go over a bridge and theres a road on your left and you go down there to findhorn, nice food at a hotel down there, aint been there in ages,if you carry on down the road you will end up goin along, and a big bridge is ahead of you, nice for jumping over with the car,but before that there will be a track on your left,go down there,it goes into some forest and then the beach is on the other side, not far to walk at all from the car park which is in the forst, maybe a minute or 2,quite litrelly,

um,i think ive blabbered too much,so ill stop now, sorry

"Soon" is not exactly the word. I'm planning a Europe thing for summer of 2008 (when I finally graduate)...

The wait is killing me
