Hey all, found this site through my Googling research and it looks like it's a great place so I figured I'd sign up. I'm Justin (obviously), 26, spent the first 20 years of life in New York but the last ~5-6 in South Carolina. Come May I'll be spending three weeks in Europe solo. Either with a relative that lives in Paris and taking excursions from there or if he isn't there (don't know for sure 'til next month) or because I just decide on it, I was wanting to travel Eastern Europe. Germany then to Poland, Czech, Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia. Something like that. Trying to find a cheap ticket from there to London to spend my last few days there with a sibling before I come back stateside.
Anyways, that was probably too rambly. Just wanted to say hello!

Waddup man, and welcome....
All those places rock (well I have never been to croatia, but I heard it's bad ass) but you could look at 2 ways to get around... Train (but the eurorail pass does not cover most of those places... however, they have come up with a new easternrail pass... check it out at www.raileurope.com
Or you could fly around... some of the places for cheap ass fairs are:
www.easyjet.com
www.ryanair.com
www.transavia.com
there are a few more out there, I'm sure someone else will chime in with the others...
again... welcome and have fun on your trip...

There are quite a few of us who could give you some tips on eastern europe I would be happy to reccommend a few places for eastern europe...Im always going to reccommend Hungary but you should definately try and hit up the Baltics, Lithuania being my second favourite country in Eastern Europe. Germany is another firm favourite but this is gonna be expensive this summer because of the world cup

A rail pass is easier, but you can get around Eastern Europe by rail very cheaply and reasonably easily - just be patient and prepare to do a lot of pointy-talky if you don't speak the language! Lots of tpunks have spent a lot of time in eastern Europe, so feel free to ask questions, we love to share our favourites.

Welcome to the boards and feel free to ask us all the dumb questions you like, because believe it, we've all been there before

Oh I definitely will be soon. I'm super excited and have never left this hemisphere before so I have tons of things I'm curious about and questions that will sway my final decisions.
