Hello everyone!
I have been messing around on this forum for quite a while now, and I figured I should introduce myself. I am 21 years old and hail from a little place called Quinter, KS. Quinter is about as small town America as you can get (population 916, and yes I know them all by their first and last names). I have been saving my money since I was about 13 years old, planning on getting out of this small-minded small town. Originally I was saving for college, but when I recieved a full ride (communication major/business tech minor) I decided that all my money would take me where I really wanted to go.
Since I have been on such a tight budget, my backpacking has never been able to take me outside of North America. Most of my adventures have been to Arizona for climbing or the American/Canadian border for camping, canoeing and kayaking. Most of my friends call me a minimalist backpacker, always trying to find a way to shave off an oz or two in my tiny pack or save a dollar here or there.
Anyway, enough about me! Hope to get to know you all a lot better and maybe we will meet up somewhere!
Jason

where do you plan on going with this "college" money?

That is a tough one. Maybe the question should be where am I not going to go. LOL. Over the past few years I have been working on clearing all my debts and assests, and by the end of the year I will officially be a backpacker 24/7. My starting point for my first trip will be London. I would like to see most of east England, Scotland and Ireland (home of my ancestors). From there I will be moving into Europe, but the exact path is as of now undecided. I tend to roll with the flow more than plotting an exact course. I would love to hear others stories of adventures in the UK or Ireland, maybe it will help me find more interesting things to see or do!
And, to answer your question chelseafc05, yeah, pretty much. Is easy when you realize the people here have always been here and there are those last names that are shared. For example if you look in our local phone book you will find 100+ with the name of Jamison and about that many Zerrs. Kinda sad really, hence the reason I want to get outta here and not come back any time soon
Till later!
Jason

My hometown is about 280 miles west of Lawrence, but during school I live in Lawrence. I attend KU (Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!). Lawrence is an awesome little city, about 100,000 people and 40,000 of them are college kids. A lot of people come from Kansas City to party in Lawrence. Never a shortage of good times around there!
