I will start off by saying " FUCK YES!!!!!!"
"THANK YOU TRAVEL PUNK GUYS!"
Finally, I listend to my heart....and to your posts! I clicked that confirm button for my ticket to london a few days ago, and I have never felt so damn good in my life.
After reading some of your guys posts, I ran upstairs, got my credit card, and did the deed. So because of getting all of your positive feed back, I am going to live my dream and accomplish my goals.
Of course my parents think I am crazy, but who is to judge. If I were to listen to what everyone in America thinks about living out of a backpack,I would be working the 9-5"cutthroat" corporate office bull shit job and making "great money"...what the fuck for?? To be miserable, but look super hot driving that BMW, or have a really nice leather couch to sit on while I eat dinner.....alone. Wake up AMERICA!!!! Materials and money is not what life is supposed to be about. But since we have are heads too far up our asses.....only an eigth of us see it.
My dad calls me a vagabon as if it is an insult. But that is probably one of the nicest compliments he has given me lately!
Anyways....Thanks again to everyone for sending me great and motivational feedback!
I leave in 7 days. I land in london and then head to italy to begin the job search. Wish me luck kids!

I've had some good times overseas for sure and met some cool people overseas. But the good ol USofA is my home. I am currently reading Notes From a Small Island by Bill Bryson. He talks about seeing an old movie in england right before he moved back to the states after 20 years. the movie was called Cinerama or something like that. Anyway the movie took a flight (essentially) over the states starting on the east coast and niagra falls through chicago and the great plains over the rockies down through the canyon and san fransico etc etc. With the song America the Beautiful playing in the background. He said he started crying.
I totally agree. Please don't go to europe and trash talk my country. It has some of the most beautiful sites in the world. In parts of the country you cannot find nicer people any where. Blame popular media and the current government if you want to bitch about something but leave my countrymen out of it.
On any entirely different note. Vagabond is a compliment. Like you said (in less seemly words) most people don't realize what they are missing by not saturating themselves in other cultures. Then again most people seem to have forgotten how to read as well. In my opinion a good book can do wonders for people's perspectives on life. Remember to take a lot of pictures. Start a online journal This site works well for that And remember that people can be shown the error of their ways. Don't give up on your country. If we do then the rest of the world goes to hell with us.

I admire you passion, and congrats on the big move....
And I agree, that being called a Vagabon is not a bad thing...
Daddy might be upset he never got to do the things that you are about to do.....
Good Luck, and Have Fun!

I got my ticket last week too, but I dont leave until end of April. Have a blast though man.
I noticed you said you were looking for jobs over there. Just thought I'd add that my cousin decided to pack up and move to Italy. He got a job pretty quick working for car racing teams and got offers from Jaguar and Toyota, but that's not what he was waiting for. So it took him about 2 years to do it, but he finally got his job with FERRARI. And now has his first cam with his named stamped on it running in their formula 055 engines.
He's my hero
