Hey all this is my second time here woo hoo! I had another name but got my computer taken away so I forgot what it was lol. Anyway, this site is awesome and I'm looking forward to getting back to posting! I'm going on a tour of austria and the czech republic this summer with my orchestra then I'm breaking away at the end to go to some islands in croatia and italy. I cant wait!! my only question is....how do you all get the money for your trips? I spent 2 years working my but off to pay for just this one...is there an easier way? lol, or am I just being lazy?

Welcome SBLgirl...

The easiest ways are winning the lottery or being a trust fund baby. But most of us will never earn our trips the easy way. So we just have to work hard and make the most be can.

Fairly obvious of course, but thought I'd share a success story (thus far).

Make it a priority to save; set aside a certain percentage with every paycheck/gift of money, etc....but you have to do it consistently, and really, just live below your means in general and you'd be surprised how the money can add up pretty quickly. I saved half of every dollar I ever got for years and thought this was fairly typical behavior...and now I get to take a major trip and have lots of money leftover while all the other people I know don't understand how I don't have to get a job this summer and can travel instead b/c I have the money to do so and because they spent all their money along the way on clothes/other stuff and have nothing to show for it now.

I agree U2fan, it's all about rewarding yourself by saving a portion of every dollar you make. Compounding interest...that's what I'm talking about Half of every dollar, U2?!!!! Dayam...very impressive

The book "The Richest Man in Babylon" says "ten percent of all you earn, is your to keep." Go, people, and do likewise....

Welcome to the boards again SBL Girl!!!

Yes, saving money seems like the right answer, but everyone is different, they have a different method, a different timing, just find what the optimal way for you is and don't compare yourself with others, you're unique in your own way, even how, when, where you travel.

U2Fan! You sound like such a diligent and responsible guy! Congratulations on your financial stability!

Thanks tpunk and Carisia...but I feel a little guilty now and should make it clear that I'm only 21 so this was all growing up..it's not like I had to pay rent or buy food; the parental units had that covered! It will be harder in the real world! So I am not as diligent and responsible as it sounded....

Also, I think I will start signing my posts for awhile...hehehe..I'm a girl.

Love,
Lauren
