Hello, again.
I just wanted to re-introduce myself to everyone. I used to post a bit, but haven't been around for ages. I've got a few interesting trips lined up this year though - Amsterdam next week, Ireland in April (both of which I've never been to) and the big one - India. Alone. August/September.
Also, at 36, I think I'm a bit older than a lot of the people here - but you're never too old to travel, right!

Also, I'd like to apologize for putting a Neil Diamond song into everyone's head with that subject line!

Welcome back!
Actually, 36 seems like a medium for TP, at least among the most active members. Are you going to Amsterdam and Ireland alone as well?

HAHAHAHA I love it. I didn't even think of that. Perhaps if your title would have been "Forever in Blue Jeans" or "Sweet Caroline" maybe then.
anyhoo, welcome back!

Welcome back! I will be in India (solo) for most of July and August, so maybe we'll bump into each other there!

Welcome back. And, as Travelpunk's oldest (I'm pretty sure) at 45, don't sweat the age issue. You're right - travel at any age is great!

Actually, I didn't think about it until you mentioned it. Of course now...I'll have that song going through my mind all night - THANKS!

Thank you!
No, not going alone - my best friend is coming in from New York (on Saturday!) and we're going over to Amsterdam on Monday. Ireland, my flatmate's family has a time-share there, so I'm meeting up with her and a few friends. It's a pretty sweet deal, actually - the air ticket costs £30, and everyone is chipping in £20 for food and alcohol - so the whole week is only costing £30! (plus whatever I spend at the pub, of course!)

Awesome! Do you have a set plan yet, or are you just going to get there and see what happens?

Actually, my college just gave me a 6000 dollar grant to follow the Ganges from its source in the Himalayas to the Bay of Bengal over nine weeks, so that's my route...let me know if you'll be in the area!

That's awesome, congrats! What are you studying, if you don't mind my asking?
I'm doing my thesis right now on war poetry - maybe I could get some money to tour battlefields? (what a depressing trip that would be!)

As a member of the over 30 set, I can say we have plenty of older Tpunks who aren't ready for the rocking chair just yet! Sounds like you have some great trips lined. Good to see you back around.

Hey, grants are always worth looking into!
I'm a studio art major and mostly will be working on a photo documentation in India, but hopefully get some good stories and interviews out of the whole deal! Should be exciting!
