Why is someone from the Philippines a "Filippino" ? I never got that.

It was named after King Phillip the II from Spain, and as we Anglicized King Phillip, so did we the country which bears his name

no, i mean, why aren't they "Philppino"? Why the change is spelling from the country name to the name of the people?
