Hey everyone im brand new to this forum because i have just planned my first trip to europe. I have never been out of the US other than a few islands off of the bahamas, so you can see why i am VERY excited about this trip we are taking im Summer 07' late june-mid-late august. I have this oppurtunity because i was originally going on a 2 and a half week tour with EF tours. This tour takes me to the Netherlands,Germany, Italy, France, England, and Switzerland. On top of that they have an option that you can pay $60 usd to fly up to 3 months prior to your tour, all you need to do is accomidate yourself with your own money, its just the flight. So my friend and I Ahmad, who lived in italy for 6 months and is in the same fraternity as me, decided we would take advantage of this and leave 3 weeks prior to our tour and go backpacking and end up back in the Netherlands to meet up with our 11 friends that are doing the Tour.

Our tentative itinerary is, Fly into Netherlands (1night)$70 usd--train to Copenhagen, Denmark (2nights) $180 usd--train to Berlin, Germany (2nights) $130 usd--train to Prague, Czech Rep. (3 nights) $300usd--train to Vienna, Austria (2nights) $150usd--train to Budapest, Hungary (3nights) $180 usd--train to Geneva, Switzerland (1night) $75 usd--train to Florence, Italy (3nights) $200 usd--flight to London, England (1night) $100usd--train to Brussels, Belgium (spend the day)--train back to Amsterdam, Netherlands to meet up with our tour. We left some buffer days just in case we wanted to stay in a city for longer just in case.

If anyone can give me any advice whatsoever on this trip it would be greatly appreciated, n e thing from the amount of money were bringing to what we should do in these places. We wanted to take so much money for prague because we wanted there to be one city where we could splurge and live like kings, do you all at Tpunks think prague is a good city to splurge in?

Get a freaking Eurail pass buddy or you will be fucked! Check out the site for them. They are a little pricey but MUCH cheaper than going through individual tickets. Plus if for example you go to Italy and want to go to Rome, Florence, and Cinque Terre...they are free, because you have you ticket. They just give you a little stamp and thats it. Just make sure you get one for enough days, I had to doctor mine to give me more days. Scandalous, I know, but by the time a train guy noticed it was on its last day.

Don't bother added Czech to your pass either. You can take the train to the last stop in germany and only pay a little bit to go to prague. Good luck and if you need any more info, you've come to the right place!

Also...check out RyanAir for cheap flights. They are a god send in Europe and normally cheaper than trains.
