Haha, well then, welcome to you too, kiwichick, from a fellow gimp.
I would love to go to NZ, but are there any New Zealanders there?!?! It seems they dominated the hostels in EVERY country I've ever been to. I can imagine that both NZ *and* Australia are completely devoid of people in their 20's cause they're all traveling! Though I think my ALL-TIME favorite experience hosteling was eating our hostel breakfast at a table with both someone from NZ and someone from Oz (all three of us strangers except for this solitary breakfast) and having them school me in accent differences (see, I say "here" and he says "here" - you see the difference now?). I can tell now!!! I swear!!!
Marc - nice meeting you too! DC is awesome, thanks! Everybody should put it on their destination list!

Where did you intern? It's awesome that you loved the city!! There are so many people who just get into Type-A mode as soon as they get inside the beltway and then they ignore the fact that it's an incredibly cultural, historical, alternative city as well as a political den of thieves.

I interned for the American Conservative Union over in Alexandria. It was pretty cool, I got to meet some right wing bigwigs at the functions the organization used to put on. I loved the whole vibe of DC, totally different than out here in California.
