Well, im from Oz. Me and a mate are flying to good ol' london town and looking for a camper somewhere in the uk, probly seeing the sites as we go. We are both going to have about $30000AUD (about 8500Eu) when we leave home (no we are not rich, just busted our butts for 60 hrs a week). Once we got the van we are going through france, spain/portugal, italy, then thinking about ferrying over to greece. Then we will drive up through croatia/bulgaria/hungary area and end up in germany. see where we go from there if we have any money left (which i doubt).

Sam.

Welcome to the boards!

I hope you've checked ferry prices. The UK France crossing is cheaper than Ireland UK (which is around the €400 mark for a commercial vehicle) The UK also has one of the highest fuel prices in Europe, it's still going to be more than €1 a litre mark everywhere, even eastern Europe.

I'm not sure about the rest of Europe but Ireland and I recon the UK has strict laws on whats aloud on the road. Anything over 5-10 years old here has to have a regular National Car Test (NCT) every 1-2 years. Not having one of these will make your car illegal to drive on the roads and they test everything.

All this probably won't be a problem in eastern Europe but you will have to go through UK, Germany and France which do have strict laws so you should just make sure you know what your getting yourself into.

I've a road trip to Finland planed for next year (including Nurburgring and Amsterdam) and from Ireland I recon it's going to cost me at least €1000 including ferry (direct to France) and diesel. Not including accommodation.
