I'm new to the board, but I stumbled across the site while looking for some information about eating Haggis as I'm going to Scotland in a week, and basically, I was wondering if any of you might have some ideas for treks and stuff to do for weekend trips in the Northern UK. I'll be doing some research at the Univeristy in Edinburgh for the most part, but if you have any ideas, I am more than open to suggestions.
Well, I'd definitely check out Glasgow, Loch Lomond and Arbroath. I've been to all those, but I'm basing my recommendations on the following from others, because their reports have made me want to go: Ben Nevis, Oban, the Inner and Outer Hebrides, the Orkneys and the Shetlands. I'm sure there'll be lots of other suggestions soon, hang in there - and welcome!
