Default prescription in london

hey all,

stupid me didn't get my prescription refilled earlier. I'm in London now, almost ready to go home, but my three month supply of heart medication just ran out (the pharmacy yesterday wouldnt do overseas prescriptions) which means i need to find a chemist asap.

US prescription (so private, not NHS). Anyone know a cheap clinic that will (can?) rewrite it as an NHS prescription or a pharmacy that will fill overseas/private prescriptions. I'm on the east end, but i'm not picky about location. Getting alittle flustered. Sudden discontinuation is kind of a bad idea. Grrr.

Any help appreciated.

Safe travels,
m

Call NHS 24

08454 242424

they'll tell you exactly what to do. Call any time day or night, it's always manned, they'll get you a doctor's appointment (for free of course) and the doctor is able to write nhs prescriptions.

The Current Prescription charge is £5 up here in Scotland ($7-8) for any medication at all, but I beleive it may be closer to the £7($10) mark in London

Our healthcare here is very good, don't panic, call NHS24 on the number above and they'll sort you out, no worries.

sorry to keep posting, but I've just realised that i've given you the scottish number

The English Number for NHS Direct (The English Equivalent of NHS 24) is simply

0845 46 47

(Yes, it's supposed to be this short)

Hope this helps, I just noticed this post was from earlier in the month, so is suspect you've solved this problem in some way, still this information mightbe useful for others.
