The one time I was in Stockholm, the metro was very easy to navigate. Scandinavia is very English-friendly. Hopefully you're able to find your way around and best of luck!

Oh, here let me help you out with some words you might like to use, Puss = Kiss, Kram = Hug (which I'm finally certain of). Dude, Xan guess who is drinking!

I'm sure once you settle in your hostel they will help you and point out the nicest things to do while there. I havent been yet, but I always thought that just walking through Stockholm must be absolutely beautiful, I've seen the "awesomest" pictures from that city. Also I'd try to find their Museum of national history (they've gotta have one) i bet they have a really rich history you've provably never heard about.
Relax, you'll find things to fill your time there soon enough!

We stayed at the Af Chapman hostel, which is the tall ship you see in the harbour. They also have rooms in the main building. It was clean, safe, inexpensive (for Sweden) and a GREAT location. Easy walking distance to Gamla Stan and the rest of downtown Stockholm, and there's public transit just about 100 metres from the hostel. We arrived and left in the dark, and had no difficulty finding it. The transit system is great, see if you can get a pass. We got the Stockholm City card, which includes admission to all the museums, as well as unlimited transit. It worked great for us, the three day pass paid off in two days for us - I think we visited 12 museums, as well as using the transit. The passes can be a bit expensive, but if you really want to museum yourself out (as we did) it's worth while. Check out the Medieval Museum, it's small but very cool.
