Two very different places, I know, but two very cheap flights
I'm hoping to visit one in May, after l'ecole finishes up for the year. Soooo I'm stuck. Does anyone know which would be cheaper to visit? I can't seem to find any cheap accomodation in the Bahamas, and as for England...well maybe it's just London but Hostels there seem pretty high-priced. What's the deal with having to pay per person??? It's nuts.
*sigh* frustration!!!
Any imput?
(I didn't know where to post this...by the way )

If you're leaning towards early this year and are concerned about money, I'd have to vote for England. It's downtime/shoulder season for Europe. Since it's climate is so similar to N. America (incl. Canada but of course!) and there's no long breaks, people have a tendancy to migrate south (Mexico, Bahamas, Virgin Islands, etc). Therefore, it is their peak season. It's easier as there isn't the huge jet lag, so it can be done in 3-7 days (Spring/Easter Break, etc). The places are still expensive in the tourist cities (where you'd inevitably be flying and probably staying in). So, even considering England's crappy exchange rate (compared to USD/CAD), you may save money/come out even by going to England during this time.
On the other hand, if you can find an all inclusive (food + drink) for a decent price, you may want to go enjoy some sun!!
Don't feel too weird about the odd choice as we're currently debating Mexico vs UK + Norway.

Personally, I think the Bahamas are overrated. Too many tourists, too many tourist traps, and "budget" accommodations, of which there are very few, go from $50-100/night in most cases... If you decide on the Caribbean, I'd go a bit further afield and try one of the smaller islands. They're all pretty touristy, but the Bahamas really take the cake as the Disneyland of the region.
