I've never personally been, but it came highly recommended by several travelers I ran into along the way.

Went there for 2 days last June. It is a pretty nice hostel. Definitely one of the best in Europe. Seems to cater to the 18-25 like to smoke pot crowd, my girlfriend and I arent in that crowd so we didnt spend much time in the actual place, but it has a nice internet area, bar, pool table, showers in the 6 person rooms... etc. Its nice but by comparrison I definitely think Allesandro near the train station in Rome is a better hostel. Just my .2 $. See ya round. -Kyle

No I dont smoke or drink or do anything. Is this rare among backpackers? seems like on this site and my time in Europe many a packer enjoys a spiff or two, not to mention some alcohol. Dont get me wrong I have love for everyone, its just not my bag. Take it easy all. -Kyle

It was a fun place, but when I travel to foreign countries, I don't want to be completely surrounded by fellow Americans... Which is about 90% of the place on any given day
Still, though, the smaller rooms are CLEAN, the breakfast is pretty good, and the bar is great. You can ignore the multitude of do-nothing drug tourists - just careful not to step on them on the way out of the place!

I have stayed at the downtown one (their is also the Flying Pig Palace and one at a beach town). If you are looking to party then it is a great place to stay. The room I had was pretty clean (4 or 6 bed dorm room, I can't remember which). The breakfast is poor, but there are a lot of bakeries in the area. I was there in the winter time and the heat was not working too well. It is pretty close to the train station and is in a good overall location. When I go back to Amsterdam, I probably would either stay there again or try the Bulldog Hostel. You will want to book ahead as every day they had a long line of people waiting to check in and this was in January.

I was just there last week.. (or was it the week beofre last?? what is today?!?) Anyhoo it was alright.. Just like everyone said.. A bunch of Americans gettin there smoke on.. It's in a good location, and real close to the train station. It is a bit on the pricy side, but what isn't in the Dam.. I did make reservations to go back on the 21st of this month.. So if anything changes.. I'll give the FYI! WORD!
P.S. After a long day of trackin around town, I got tore up in the happy room and watched Ali G movie (twice) good times...
