so i booked a couple nights at the 3 ducks in paris for my second stop in europe and i read the top recommended hostel thing on tpunk then i looked at the site and it didnt look to bad...

but today i was researching more hostels and i found a million angry reviews on this place...with a coupl super good ones thrown in there.... i dont get it!! is it decent or shitty?

the dirtiest place i have stayed is m and j's in rome....and it wasnt horribly horrible...just nasty showers and overall a lil scummy....but livable and still fun cuz of the people....

has anyone stayed at m and j's and 3 ducks and can compare? or can anyone give me an opinion on another place thats central in paris to stay for like 4 nights at the end of may beginning of june??

Hi Jessie. Here's where I stayed in the cities you mentioned:

London: The Generator - it's not as personable and homey as many hostels, but it was clean, cheap (I paid 9 pounds/night), good location, breakfast, and a decent bar/almost nightclub downstairs.

Cinque Terre: I stayed in Riomaggiore at La Dolce Vida. Loved it!! My friend and I had our own little apartment with an incredible view of the town and the Mediterranean. It had a kitchen, two bedrooms, bathroom, and in a beautiful town for 25 euros each. A little more than I generally spent, but well worth it!

Rome: I stayed at M&J too, wasn't crazy about it though!!

Nice: I stayed at two places here. The first was Faubourg Montmartre. It was pretty random, ran by a crazy lady "The Pink Lady," room had a kitchen right beside the beds, and was okay. I preferred Hotel Antares though. It had small comfortable dorms with an ensuite bathroom, was very clean, and was right by the train station.

I wish I could help out with Greece, but I have yet ot get there!! Have fun!
