I'm interested in reserving a hostel for a couple of nights during San Fermin. I have gone to hostelworld.com and tried many different combinations to find an available hostel, but with no luck. I was wondering if it was too late or if I am trying to get reservations too far in advance, the website not specificy? Has anybody had any experience with this? I would like to get this handled as soon as possible. Thanks for any help.

i was able to reserve a room at meson del barro two weeks prior to san fermin. if i remember correctly it was around 45 euro per person. that was the cheapest though and you need 3 people. if not, youll pay more.

its only a short busride away from the running.

anyhow heres the site.

You can keep checking but it's probably best to try an alternate route, ie google guesthouses or something.

While it can be done to get a hostel there, there are only about 2 if I remember right and more common is many people rent their places out and yes, it is definitely going to be more expensive than a hostel.

If you really want to go though, don't worry too much about it; something could turn up closer to it...worst case scenario you sleep outside which a bunch of us have done and we survived!

yeh i slept outside with abunch of people for two nights, everyoe does it. its not the safest, most comfortable place but for the most part you didnt sleep anyway. Party goes on 24/7.

But there were a coupl of people who did have a hostel. They were simply just mats on a pack floor but it wa a hostel.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I will definately look at some other resources to get reservations elsewhere. One question though, I have heard about sleeping in the park, but what do you do with your backpack and other valuables? Take turns sleeping? Jk. Thanks again for the help.

There is place where you can store your packs for 3 euros for 24 hours. Its very safe and everyone puts their stuff there. Its open 24 hours and it works kinda like some train station storage. You have to check it in with one of the attendents and he palces it in the back so that you cant get to other bags and people cant get to yours. It is run by the city at the City Hall.

It gets cold at night. Some people had sleeping bags. Dont carry anything on you that you wouldnt want stolen, broken, or stained. It really is one massive druken party.

If you have a sleeping bag check it in at the City Hall during the day and get it out for the night. It gets really cold at night, i mean freezing. Those who had sweaters or sleeping bag were fine but i just about died. However, alot of people dont sleep at all. The parting is just as big at 6 am in the morning as it is at 10 pm.

WATCH YOUR STUFF. If you dont watch it, it will get stolen guarenteed. Your stuff wil be alright if you just hang on to it and dont assume "It will be fine."

O yeh a big misconecption for Running The Bulls. You cant just start out anywhere on the track. You have to start out in the square packed into this fenced in area. The police clear the streets and hundreds of people are focred out of the track who think they are going to run. Once it is cleared then everyone from the square clears out and fills up the track. I was lucky and when the police cleared us out i hauled ass back around and barely squezzed into the square. And when i say say barely i mean barely. We had a group of 5 of us and 2 didnt get to run beacuse they were forced out. The rest of us got lucky and saw some peole running trhough a back alley and we just follwed.

Damn i loved the San Fermine festival
