Hostels in Copenhagen

Hi all,

I'm flying into Amsterdam this coming Saturday to meet up with a close friend of mine for 3+ weeks travel through Germany & Denmark.

I've been feverishly reading hostel reviews in antipation of the adventure. Although we currently only have our hostel in Amsterdam booked, we will be booking in advance once we get our itinerary straight in Europe.

Anyways, I'm not so concerned with the German hostels - seems to be a good selection in most cities. However, the choices in Copenhagen seem more limited. Ideally we are looking for something cheap and in the city centre. Anyone have any hostels in Copenhagen to recommend or to avoid?

I stayed at the 'City Public Hostel' which you should try to avoid. I got put in a 72 bed dorm, yes you heard right! It was a gymnasium with bunk beds separated by thin chipboard. The bunks were really worn and squeaky and mattresses waifer thin. The lights would go on and off at certain times and there was no security (and I did hear about peoples stuff getting stolen) The only good thing was the location.

After coming back from Stockholm I stayed in a cheap hotel. It was about $50AUD a night (per person for a twin share) but was a vast improvement. We found this by enquiring at the tourist office.
