Oh, that's so weird - I didn't stay there but I freaked out when I saw it riding the bus from the station to the place I did stay (the Owl - it was a small hotel way back when, no idea if it's still around). I freaked because it's the first time I'd ever seen my name "up in lights". The second time was a week later at the Culture Palace in Warsaw. I felt very welcome on my first solo trip to Europe!
Sorry, that doesn't help you much...the Owl waas okay, but the other place I stayed in A'dam was a horrible dive the name of which I have blocked out of my memory. But it wasn't the Tamara.
