RADIO INN seems to be a cool spot, 25 euros per bed per night (so 50 euros for a couple) and claims to be centrally located (Utrechtsedwarstraat79 1017 WD Amsterdam)...
have you ever stayed here, what are your opinions of the place? clean? noisy? convenient?
if you know of anything cheaper, please share!

JOA, Havenīt heard of anything on that one, Sorry
Have you checked out The Flying Pig? Itīs a Top Ten hostel world wide voted by backpackers through hostelworld. A bed in a 4 bed dorm runs about $30 euros a night.
Cdude, stayed at the Bulldog a couple of weeks ago. Maybe he can give us an assesment of the joint.

The Bull Dog was good, and clean and VERY good local...but there was one thing that i noticed...its not a very social place??? I really did not meet anyone else who was staying there..its kinda odd actually??? The place just is not set up for that, there is a bar in it, but its like a regular bar, who walks up to people in a bar and starts a conversation??? If it were like a lounge or a tv room or something then hey sure strike up a convo with anyone...( sorry ranting)
Greeat place to stay, but not great for meeting people...my opinion :D

thank you, oh wise CD:
you know, i've heard about the bulldog - here and otherwise - the radio inn place is way cheap though. bulldog is $30 per bed in a 4 bed dorm, right? well this place is only $25 a bed and you can have a private room - shit, well that's what their web page advertises.
i can sympathize with your rant though - what the hell is the point of staying in a hostel and not having a friendly avenue to travel down - and you're right - if somebody randomly came up to me in a bar, i'd be freaked out.

I'd get a quiet place, then outsource on the bar/lounge thing. The normal bar would be fine for me as I meet people in cafes, parks, etc...
Sometimes when hostels have thump'n bars and lounges or are situated close to one, it's hard to sleep because of the noise(for me). So, I'd rather have my peace and quite and find a lively bar nearby.
I'd definitely get the private especially if it's cheaper B)
