I have my ISIC card. Is it worth getting a YHA card or will I save enough ??

An Isic card is awesome to have. SO many student discounts out there! Unfortunately the only card i have is my international youth card. What type of hostels are you going to be staying at ? More independent ones or HI ones? Keep in mind that most yha hostels have curfews and lockouts (though they are extremely clean!) so you have to decide what type of hostels you want. The savings from members to non-members only very a few dollars. So depending on your length of trip it might not be worth it. i had a yha and it don't think it was worth it personally.

I hadn't really thought about types of hostels.

YHA card looks good but I think between ISIC and BUNAC discounts I can probably save the $30 and pass on YHA...

Thanks...:)

Definitely ISIC! I used it thoroughly at my age too ( :o )!

The YHA is good at those specific locations, but you can buy them on location if it comes down to it.

Not sure about BUNAC, but foreign students that I´ve met from Spain, France, Denmark, Sweden, and Germany all had one, so I think that they are the most popular and most recognized one- world wide.

Paying for ANY kind of discount travel cards all depends if they are valid for MORE than one year, how long will you be traveling and actually USING it daily AND what region of the world you'll be traveling. For example in S.E Asia having such a card does NOT save you ANY money where budget accomodations are available everywhere nor in South / Latin America either. These cards are good for the USA/Canada and Europe but then again how many ACTUAL nights will you be using the card and how much CHEAPER is the place which gives you the discount compared to competing accomodations which don't?

That's a very good question and I'm dying to see the feedback, I've been thinking about getting an ISIC card myself, but just like you said, sometimes you might be able to stay at a clean/nice hostel that is cheaper than others with the card, who knows??
